BTEC Music Performance allows you to develop practical and industry skills whilst also improving your music theory. The BTEC course is equivalent to one full A Level.

Course Details

BTEC Music focuses on four modules: solo performance, ensemble performance, professional practice in the Music industry and Practical Musical theory and harmony. The course offers students the chance to focus on their performance skills as a starting point for their further musical study. The course particularly appeals to students with more contemporary musical interests. Students perform in a variety of situations across the two years on the course.

How will it be delivered?

This course is assessed in four units: Practical Music, Theory and Harmony, Professional Practice in the Music Industry and Ensemble Performance. Three are mandatory, of which two are externally assessed. At Greenhead we also study Solo Performance.

Entry requirements

The College gives priority to its 11 partner schools. Places are offered to other applicants on a competitive basis.

All prospective students must achieve a minimum of GCSE grade 4 in GCSE English Language and GCSE Mathematics, and a minimum of grade 6 in three GCSE subjects.

Designed to support progression to higher education when taken as part of a programme of study of other appropriate BTECs/A Levels. The course gives a broad overview of the sector with a focus on performance, including musical skills development and professional practice.
