If you have a passion for playing sport, a desire to know and understand more about sports performance, and are considering a career in the sports industry, you may be suitable for a place in the Huddersfield Community Trust Education Academy.
You will learn about elite performance, organisation and development of sport; key principles of sports science, nutrition and psychology; and have plenty of opportunities to take part in practical sport and assess your own performance. You will train with
top professional coaches for your chosen sport, and get the chance to represent Huddersfield Town in Futsal, competing against other professional Futsal teams in a national league.
The course in made up of 18 units and looks at a variety of different areas of sport including:
- Coaching in sport and assessing sports performance
- Fitness principles including fitness tests and designing training programmes.
- Injuries within sport and sports massage
- Sports psychology and nutrition
- Sports business and event organisation
- Sports development and issues in sport
The course is delivered in a practical manner with assessments ranging from written reports, portfolios and posters to verbal assessments, presentations and practical assessment.
4 GCSE's at grade C or above, to include English Language and Mathematics.
A foundation degree or degree in a sport related subject, including sports coaching, sports development, sport science or, with the right grades physiotherapy or podiatry.
Careers in sport are as varied as sports themselves and may include, professional coaching, working in sports development, personal training and fitness instruction, sports rehabilitation and injuries, sports nutritionist, strength and conditioning coaches,
teachers, lecturers and sports business management.
